Take and Minutes can ride your modes

• Take and Minutes now appear as modules you can add to any mode, next to Crest's own. If you own them, or your free week is running, they seat like any instrument: ready when idle, and a live clock with Cut or Stop right on the tile while a recording rolls.
• If you don't own one yet, its tile wears a small lock. Pressing it shows what that app does, what it costs, and how the free week starts. Nothing pretends to be a transport it can't be, and a recording in progress is never hidden behind a lock.
• Todo lists with the same name are one list now. Naming a list "family" when "Family" already exists selects it instead of failing, and a task filed under a list that doesn't exist yet creates that list, rather than quietly landing in your default one. Same-named categories, chips, and colors all agree.
• The Open Take button now finds Take wherever it's installed, instead of assuming the Applications folder and silently doing nothing when it wasn't there.

The quiet text is easier to read

• The faintest labels in Crest were drawn too close to their background to read comfortably, and on a hovered row they were the worst of it. Every one of them is measurably clearer now, everywhere in the app. Nothing moved and nothing changed shape, so it should feel like the same Crest with less squinting.

Your licence answers for itself

• Your licence now checks in with the server every few days. A Mac you freed from your account page locks itself here within days, says exactly why, in Settings and on the locked panels, and offers the way back in: sign in, or press Activate this Mac again.
• Being offline never locks anything. No answer from the server is never treated as a refusal, and a Mac that stays offline keeps working, which is the promise Crest Pro was sold on.
• Your account page at crestnotch.app now shows when each Mac last used its licence, so choosing which one to free is no longer a guess.
• A clock that jumped forward and was corrected can no longer end your free trial for good. Crest notices the shape, asks the server to arbitrate, and the trial comes back on its own.

Your account, said plainly

• Settings now shows which account this Mac is signed in as, with a Sign out button beside it. Signing out keeps your licence and your settings; it only unlinks the account.
• If your free trial is already running on another Mac, Crest now says exactly that, instead of suggesting you try again in a moment when trying again could never work.
• Signing in with Google or Apple now reports problems plainly, like a licence that is out of seats. Before this, the browser came back and nothing anywhere said why Crest stayed locked.
• Behind the scenes: your email is stored in one canonical form so capitalisation can never lock you out, and Crest no longer re-asks the server every launch for a trial it was already refused.

Sign in with Google or Apple

• You can now sign in with Google or Apple instead of an email and a password. Your browser opens, you pick your account, and Crest unlocks itself.
• Both of them land on the same Crest account, so your licence follows you whichever you use, and the password you already have keeps working.
• If you sign in with Apple and hide your email, you can attach that to the account you already own from crestnotch.app/account, so your licence stays where you bought it.

Crest checks in on your licence, quietly

• Crest now refreshes your licence in the background when it happens to be online. You will never see it, and it never interrupts anything.
• If it has not been able to check in for a long time, Crest keeps working exactly as it does today and simply mentions it once. Nothing locks, and nothing is taken away while you are offline.

Moving your licence between Macs, handled properly

• Deactivating now hands the licence back to the server rather than just naming it, so only the Mac that actually holds it can release it.
• If a licence has been moved between more Macs than it can cover, Crest now says so plainly and tells you support can sort it out, instead of failing with a message that sends you to deactivate somewhere it would not help.

Delete means delete, everywhere

• Deleting a meeting in Minutes now removes it from the notch's Lately too, along with the decisions and action items that were inside it. Before, they kept showing up here with no way to clear them.
• Lately no longer merges two different things into one row. Two untitled meetings on the same day, or one recording exported twice, are two entries again.
• If you bought Crest with a licence key, you can now sign in from Settings. Without that, the Take and Minutes panels sat on "Checking what you own" forever and offered to sell you apps you already owned.
• A recording in progress is never hidden behind a sign-in screen.
• Crest stops offering to record a meeting when Minutes is not yours. The offer used to do nothing at all and never said why.

Your account is the whole key

• Crest asks you to sign in now, on the free tier as well as Pro. Your account is what carries a licence, so anything you buy unlocks every Mac you sign in on, and a forgotten password is one reset away where a lost key never was.
• If you already bought Crest, nothing changes and nothing locks: your licence keeps working exactly as it did, and so does a trial that is already running.
• The free 7 day trial starts from your account, so it follows you instead of being stuck to one Mac.
• The licence key box is gone. Keys still exist behind the scenes and support can still use one, but you are never asked to hold or paste anything.
• A licence for one app can no longer be spent on another by mistake. If you try, Crest now says which app it is actually for instead of failing with nothing useful.

One account, and nothing to paste

• Unlocking Pro from the notch is now just signing in. The licence key box has moved to Settings, where it stays for anyone support hands a key to, because buying has not sent a key since the last release.
• Signing in says what happened either way: unlocked, or signed in with nothing on this account yet, so a correct password never looks like a failure.
• crestnotch.app was rebuilt around the three apps. There is a products page that lists everything each one does, a page per app, and a changelog for Take and Minutes as well as this one.
• Downloading anything from the site now makes you an account first and confirms your email. That address is where your licence and your activation link live, so doing it up front means a purchase can never land somewhere you cannot reach.

Sign in once, and Pro follows you

• Buying Crest Pro now sends one activation link instead of a licence key. Choose a password there, sign in here, and Pro applies itself, on every Mac you sign in on.
• Buy Pro on a Mac that is already signed in and Crest unlocks itself the next time you open it, with nothing else to do.
• Signing in before you have bought anything now works properly: it links this Mac to your account and says so, instead of looking like it failed.
• Your licence key still exists on your account page if you ever want it. It just is not something you have to copy any more.

The host form waits for you

Your servers, one tap from the notch

• New Hosts module (Pro): save your SSH connections once, connect from the notch forever. Auth by ssh-agent, an identity file, or a password kept in your Keychain, never in a config file.
• Pick where each host opens: Terminal, iTerm2 and Ghostty launch connected; Tabby and Warp open with the command copied, ready to paste. A per-host override rides over the module default.
• The rack tile connects inline: your three most recent hosts, one tap each, without opening the panel.

The notch takes up exactly the space you see

• Fixed: the closed notch kept a large invisible window over the top of the screen. Screen readers and automation tools (a tester's Claude session controlling his Mac found it) could hit that window and stall. It now matches exactly what your eyes see.
• Everything else about hover, clicks, music wings, and the snap palette behaves the same, just with nothing invisible in the way.

Nothing slips past the notch

• Claude Code approvals now stick on the notch until you answer: a chime, a macOS notification, an amber menu-bar icon, and the pill shows on every display, even over fullscreen apps. An In-terminal button hands the prompt back to the CLI.
• Press Control-Option-T anywhere: the quick jot does todos too. One task per line, list markers shed, and the row names the landing list before you commit.
• Calendar's List and Month are one calendar now: a two-week upcoming list, events shared both ways, and join links you can add or edit on any event.
• Tell Claude a deadline ("finish the report, I have 2 hours") and the todo carries it. Grouped notes get a name and a real category, and a spoken meeting link lands on the event with a working Join.
• Fixed for new users: macOS never showed the Calendar and camera permission prompts on fresh installs. Both ask properly now.
• Also: a chime when a meeting turns joinable (optional, like every new sound), due times that read honestly instead of "now", and lyrics that find (with ...) credited tracks and retry after a network hiccup.

Notes at the speed you think

• Press Control-Option-N anywhere: a jot field drops from the notch, you type, Enter, done. No panel needed, Esc drops it, undo right after.
• Every jot chooses its target: a new note, or appended onto your latest one. Crest remembers your preference.
• Lists continue themselves: type "1-" and Return numbers the next line in your style; checkboxes are tappable right on the cards.
• Tell Claude "add milk to my groceries list": it appends to the right note, in the right category, and names the landing spot before it acts.
• Notes gained a copy button, honest undo, and safe merging when several surfaces edit the same note at once.

• Every module shows live data at rest: album art with pause and skip, your real calendar colors with one-tap Join, working checkboxes, Shelf thumbnails, and agent Allow/Deny right in the tile.

Talk to your notch

• One Claude behind the whole panel, on your own Claude subscription through Claude Code. No API key. Tap the new spark in the header from any mode.
• Ask anything, or say what to add: Claude routes your words to an answer, or to real reminders, todos, notes and calendar events that you approve with one tap. Nothing runs without your tap.
• Turn on the mic and it keeps listening: on-device recognition, a red dot on the notch whenever the ear is hot, each question answered in writing. Closing the panel never cancels a run.
• Go covert: one tap moves the conversation to a strip under the notch that screen shares and recordings cannot see. Present turns any answer into a teleprompter there.
• Quick AI and Prompter fold into this one surface. Your pins and rack layouts migrate themselves.
• Also new: Weather, a Notifications module, Codex sessions next to Claude Code in AI Coding, a camera pre-check before meetings, and media-key volume and brightness that work on macOS 26.
• Quality: Microphone and Speech Recognition rows in Settings > Permissions, a draggable scroll when your mode strip overflows, and the voice ear never burns a Claude run on a cough or an okay.
